PILLAR THREE

The EIC will support innovators with breakthrough ideas and market creating innovations that currently face high risks due to the fragmentation of the innovation eco-system, lack of risk finance and risk aversion.

This area aims to connect people and organisations working towards the goal of innovation and supporting the scaling of companies. CONNECT and SCALEUP actions will strengthen and further develop European Innovation Ecosystems by stimulating cooperation among national, regional and local innovation actors. European Innovation Ecosystems also supports the European Partnership for Innovative SMEs (‘Eurostars 3’).

The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) is an independent body of the European Union set up in 2008 to deliver innovation across Europe. The EIT brings together leading business, education and research organisations to form dynamic cross-border partnerships. These are called Innovation Communities and each is dedicated to finding solutions to a specific global challenge. EIT Innovation Communities develop innovative products and services, start new companies, and train a new generation of entrepreneurs.
