Laura is the Northern Ireland Contact Point for Energy, based at Ulster University. She is responsible for engaging with EU energy related research and development programmes to maximise Northern Ireland’s opportunities for EU funding under Horizon Europe.
The Horizon Europe NICP aims to ensure that NI companies, research institutions and other organisations are well informed when applying for Horizon Europe funding for energy-related projects. Laura provides advice and support on accessing Horizon Europe funding for research, development, demonstration, innovation, and market transformation across the energy theme specialising in Cluster 5 destintions 3 and 4.
The main objective of the NICP role is to strengthen the participation of industries, research centres, universities and SMEs in energy-oriented Research Development and Innovation for Horizon Europe Programmes and enhance the collaborations between different stakeholders.
Laura is a chartered engineer and has 10 years’ experience in the renewable energy industry and has experience of commercial scale offshore wind and solar projects. She has experience resolving technical issues and challenges for commercial scale renewable energy projects in the field and has brought some innovative technologies to market.
